A Rare Treat: Mavis Gallant Reads Her Work

The Renewed interest in Mavis Gallant’s short fiction since The New Yorker published a segment of her journals this summer may lead, if we are lucky, to more live appearances by the author, reading her work to fellow lovers of literature. In The Moslem Wife, My Heart is Broken, Paris Stories, and other fine works, Gallant writes the boundary-moving, homeland-seeking experience of the ex-patriate, the frequent traveler, the twentieth century (now twenty-first) citizen.
