Our name Penumbra comes from Federico García Lorca’s “Oda a Salvador Dalí,” featured in the following stanza:

“Marineros que ignoran el vino y la penumbra,
decapitan sirenas en los mares de plomo.
La Noche, negra estatua de la prudencia, tiene
el espejo redondo de la luna en su mano.”
